receive 300 annual subscriptions which however do not cover
the cost of the production by any means.
I have also to
acknowledge a grant of $500 U.S. voted to me in May last
by the Rockefeller Foundation towards the cost of the
journal and I think that this grant may justly be taken as
a recognition of the value of the publication by persons
well qualified to judge. I enclose the letter sent me by
the Peiping Representative of the Rockefeller foundation
in respect of the grant.
I wish to extend the scope of the journal and intend
to publish on my return to Hong Kong the first number of
a Technical Supplement which will consist of papers by
scientists of international standing reviewing problems of
distribution and relationship of groups of animals and
plants in Asia and more especially in China. The first number will contain articles from Peiping, Berkely
and Bristol.
